Serge Hirsch studied classical music at the conservatory of Amiens (violin, musical analysis) for a few years but his main interest was (and still is) jazz music. Hirsch belongs to an artistic family and was surrounded by a lot of music and musicians. He learnt jazz by himself and formed his own groups to play the music he wanted on the violin the music of Thelonious Monk first and then Charles Mingus, Eric Dolphy etc..
He also learnt the French Manouche repertoire, being in Paris, surrounded by all the gypsy jazz scene, but his main interest was and still is hard and post bop music.
During those years he has played with great musicians including Steve Potts, Ran Blake (Piano), Florin Nicolescu, Pierre Christophe, John Betsch, Gustave Reichert.
Born in 1988, he was also very interested in hip hop and beat music and started producing 10 years ago and learned to play the piano. He formed several groups (Sharp9) and played with others (Fungi, Leopard Ale, Kamaal Williams etc..)
