Maciejowski Wojtek

Wojtek Maciejowski has been involved in music for 27 years. His musical journey began at a young age when he started exploring the traditional music of the Beskid Żywiecki region. Over time, his interests expanded to traditional music from the entire Carpathian arc, particularly focusing on music from Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and the Balkan countries.

He began his formal musical education at the State Music School in Żywiec and continued at the Music School in Bielsko-Biała. He completed his bachelor’s and master’s studies under the guidance of pedagogue Małgorzata Szadowiak at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where he graduated from the instrumental department. A year later, he obtained his master’s degree at the same department, this time at JVLMA in Riga under the direction of Tereze Ziberte-Ijaba.

Despite his deep immersion in classical music, he felt the need for greater artistic freedom. In 2018, he began studying at the Jazz and Popular Music Department in Katowice under the direction of Henryk Gembalski, which was a significant step towards exploring various musical styles.

He also attended several advanced courses, including a Mix and Mastering course led by Maciej Polański (MUSONEO), a violin course under the direction of T. Tomaszewski (UDK Berlin) in Belgium and T. Granmo in Riga, an orchestral course conducted by Lutz Kohler, as well as chamber music courses under the guidance of D. Severin and Diana Ketler in Riga.

Currently, he is a permanent member of the bands Kapela PoPieronie, Kapela Hanki Wójciak, and Beskid Quartet. He has also had the opportunity to collaborate with artists such as Mateusz Smoczyński, Dawid Główczewski, Marcin Elszkowski, Grzegorz Czuchaj, Jarek Bothur, and Michał Aftyka.
