2016-04-01

Answering numerous requests to postpone the deadline for the 2nd International Zbigniew Seifert Jazz Violin Competition, the organisers are glad to inform that the final deadline for submission of your applications has been postponed to 30 April 2016.

The 2nd edition of the Seifert Competition will be held from 24 to 27 August2016 in the Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre for Music in Lusławice, and in Kraków.

Please note that the competition accepts applications not only from violinists but from violists and cellists as well.

The Competition Jury will be composed of famous New York violinist Mark Feldman, the drummer of Tomasz Stańko’s and Zbigniew Seifert’s combos Janusz M. Stafański, and Josh Grossman, the artistic director of the Toronto Downtown Jazz Association and Toronto Jazz Festival.

The organisers have set up three Competition Prizes: 1st Prize of EUR 10,000, 2nd Prize of EUR 5,000, and 3rd prize of EUR 2,000.

Continuing the tradition from the first edition, the audience will also choose their favourite. The voting will take place via a special radio platform, where jazz lovers from all around the world will be able to follow all stages of the competition.

Moreover, the Jazzarium Association and Programme 2 of the Polish Radio will fund a special prize: a performance at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of the Polish Radio.

We are also pleased to announce that the non-statutory prizes for the winner now include also a concert in Hamburg.
