Noah Hassler-Forest (2000) is an award winning Dutch violinist, based in Barcelona and the Netherlands. Driven by an early fascination with bluegrass fiddle, he began studying violin and piano at the age of five. As a teenager he performed extensively in youth orchestras, and studied classical violin with various teachers, such as Johannes Leertouwer and Kati Sebestién. He completed his Bachelor’s degree (Musician 3.0) at the Utrecht Conservatory, studying with George Dumitriu, and continued his studies as an Erasmus student at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (Global Music & jazz, with Tero Hyväluoma). Drawn to improvisation and cross-genre exploration, Noah later moved to Barcelona to pursue a Masters degree in Jazz Violin at ESMUC, studying with Apel-les Carod. Noah has received multiple awards with his projects, including first prizes at the Dutch Jazz Competition, Keep an Eye the Records, and the Dutch Violin Competition (Young Makers Division). Besides being a violinist, Noah composes for most of his ensembles, and sings in the bluegrass tradition. He is a founding member of the genre bending string quintet Woodcraft, and the jazz/chamber trio Moon Garden.
